It’s the letter version of the Gaapsavvy Shareforums: 750+ in-house accounting practitioners across 200 tech companies comparing notes on AI, internal controls, revenue recognition, and the auditor conversations nobody publishes. Poll data, real member cases, the tools practitioners are actually using, and themes we’ll unpack together over time.
Some issues dive deep on a single topic. Others sweep across industry trends. Either way, I’m giving it to you straight — the good, the challenging, and the “nobody talks about this but everyone struggles with it.” Nothing here is a ruling. Some of it will turn out to be wrong. That’s the point.
I founded Gaapsavvy to create “open source accounting” — where professionals share learnings the way developers collaborate on code, building something better together.
With AI transforming our field faster than ever, learning in community is essential. My goals are simple:

Who’s writing this
I’m Angela Liu. Before Gaapsavvy I was at KPMG’s National Office, where I owned the internal controls, revenue recognition, and IFRS curricula, then spent years in-house in technical accounting tech companies, flipped to Product and helped build and ERP from scratch. I started this community, because the most useful things I ever learned came from other practitioners, not from anyone’s official position.
